Today my little monkey is one month old! In honor of the occasion I took him to get weighed and measured. The little guy is now 10 pounds 10 ounces and 22 1/2" long. He's grown a lot already. I've also uploaded more pictures to flickr (sorry Stephie no pics of your gifts yet... soon though).
I'm happy to report the thrush is gone (hopefully to not come back) and his breast feeding blisters are gone as well. He is back to being the happy laid back baby he was in the beginning. I'm also thankfully getting a little more sleep.
Well he's waking up (hungry AGAIN) so this is just a short update.
My poor little monkey has been sick the last week. It's been rough on the both of us (and Daddy too). He is doing a lot better though and must be going through a growth spurt since he won't stop eating. Unfortunately since he was sick he started not sleeping in his playpen or bassinet. He likes to be held. Which means I've had to sleep with him in the bed. I really didn't want to get into that habit but what do you do when the poor guy won't sleep otherwise. I'm hoping that since he's starting to feel better he'll be willing to sleep alone now. We put him in his playpen pretty quickly after he falls asleep and when he wakes up we comfort him but then put him back so I'm hoping he'll get the idea.
My birthday has come and gone. I can't believe I'm 30. I had a nice day with my little family and last Saturday we went to Mr. IT's for a family birthday thing. My Dad, brother and his family all came. It was really nice.
I've been getting out of the house a little this week. On Tuesday I went for lunch with a couple girls from work and then brought the little monkey to work. Everyone thinks he's perfect looking. I of course agree. Last night Mr.IT and I took him out to the mall so I could go shopping and spend my birthday money. I needed some new shirts since I'm not quite back to my before baby body.
We took the little monkey to the doctor for his one week check up. He's got a clean bill of health. On Wednesday we took him to get weighed and measured. Most of the time babies lose weight after they are born but in a week they should be back to their birth weight. Well our little one surpassed his birth weight by 6 ounces. Here I was all worried that he wasn't eating enough or that my milk might not be enough. Guess I don't need to concern myself with that. He also grew half an inch.
It's been a busy weekend with going to my brothers for thanksgiving supper yesterday. He did really well though. Slept through all the noise. You better believe it was noisy too. There were 8 kids all 5 and under. Plus the adults (13) make as much if not more noise than the kids. I'm happy we have a baby that will easily sleep through all that. I had a good time and absolutely love my brothers place. They live on an acreage outside the city and the house is mostly wood inside. When I first saw it I thought all that wood would drive me crazy because it seemed so closed in but now with all their furniture (and new hardwood floors and carpet upstairs) I think it's beautiful. Plus you can't beat how peaceful it is being in the middle of nowhere.
Tonight we'll be heading to Mr.ITs parents house for thanksgiving. It's a much quieter atmosphere but no less fun. I'm hoping to get home a little earlier tonight though so we can wind down a little sooner. Hopefully get the monkey to sleep at an earlier time.
In a couple days I'll be thirty. I can't believe it. I don't feel like I should be turning thirty. I also can't believe I actually have a baby before thirty. It has been a great present but of course it also means no big party for the thirtieth birthday. No big deal though I don't mind keeping it low key. Dinner with Mr. IT and just relaxing for the evening. He goes back to work on Wednesday too so it'll be the last day with all of us home. I'm definitely going to miss him being home all day.
It's been hectic but I've managed to get sleep for the last couple of nights. Broken sleep but still about 8hrs so I'm pretty happy with that. Today we take him for his one week check up! I was planning on stopping by work but I think we'll do that tomorrow. He's been eating like crazy and we slept in a little bit so we may want to just head home after the doctor instead. We'll see.
It was great to talk to you Stephie!! Thanks for the congrats Penny!
I decided to start this blog as a way to keep my friends informed of whats going on with me. It is more like a journal of my life that I'm happy to share. I am not that great of a writer and will probably ramble often. I also think things in my life can be pretty boring and since I am trying to update every day (or every second day) a lot of the posts will be pretty lame.
I have a son whom I adore, so a lot of my posts will be about him.
Thanks for stopping by.
