Since Stephie asked I will update. I’m over 37 weeks now and getting very anxious to have the baby and have my body back. I’m still working until the end of next week. Truthfully though I’m not sure I can last that long. It’s a lot more difficult than I thought it would be to continue working.

2 weeks and 1 day until Callie gets here! I can’t wait to see her (and munchkin)! It’s going to be great to have them around.

Last night we went to the photographer for the ‘Demi Moore’ style belly pics. I think the pictures are going to look great (despite my face being chubby with the swelling and baby weight gain). The photographer did a good job of making Mr. IT and I feel comfortable and I ended up having a blast doing the pictures. We’ll also have them on CD so I’ll definitely upload them.

I can’t believe in a short while I’m going to have a baby. I’m going to be a Momma… wow. Mr. IT is going to be such a great father too. He’s so excited. I don’t think I could have found a guy that would treat me better than he does. He’s been absolutely wonderful throughout all of this.

Edit: My last day at work is going to be Monday. My feet are unbelievably swollen. They look like hobbit feet without the hair. I'm looking forward to being off work but I'm going to miss it too. I'm really hoping I don't get too bored. Mr. IT had a dream the baby was born Sept. 8 at 11:07am so if it was more like a premonition then maybe I won't actually have time to get bored.

Hmmm ... you've just validated my POWER. ;-)

Thanks for the update, it's just good to hear how you're doing. I'm so excited for you and Mr. IT - you're going to be fabulous, loving parents and your baby boy is SO lucky to have you two for it's Momma and Daddy-oh. :-)

2 1/2 weeks until Callie visits!! That's so exciting! You two are going to have a blast with the new little guy. I'm SO uber-jealous. I will have to make a trip to Edmonton one day, maybe I'll convince Martin someday that we need to go see the glory that is Western Canada.

Thanks for the update Jellybean! All the best for your last bit of work - hang in there, you're almost on mat leave! WOOT! haha.

Yes - Stephie has ALL the power. Always has. Ever since she was, what?, 15? I'm trying to do the math, and it just makes me feel way too old. LMAO!

Anyway - I just want to tell Dani that she's a wimp. *snicker* I worked until I was past my due date - BOTH times. Shoot - I even went into labor with Munchkin at work. Ha!

I am the queen. You may kneel before me.

(in an answer to your obvious question - YES, I have had entirely too much caffine today)

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

TWO WEEKS! Yay!!!!!!

See? I'm the one with all the power (yes, since the ripe young age of 15 haha). But Callie is right, she is the Queen.

Guess that makes us both powerful!

LOL I've posted when you've requested it before Mystic! I'll have no pouting out of you :P

Thanks Stephie :) I hope you're right... I know we'll do our best to be fabulous parents. :)

How can I resist Stephie?? She's definitely had the power for quite a while.

Oh and yeah you're definitel queen Callie but I should add... if I only 6 weeks of mat leave I'd be working up until I have the kid too. However since I have a year I have the time to take off before he comes. :P

Canadian mat leave for the win??

Or was this because of the particular place you worked, Cal?

If I only had six weeks of mat leave, I'd have the baby AT WORK and then keep working for a little bit and then take my leave. I mean, they're all squidgey when they first pop out, might as well work then and be home while they're in a really cute phase. ;-)

My mom's cousin's wife only got 6 months and I thought that was short. LOL.

Yeah - 6 weeks is standard in the US. At least, that's what we get paid disability for. We can take up to a year off, but it's unpaid (unless we have the vacation time built up, which I didn't).

And people wonder why kids in the US are so messed up . . .

:-P

Seriously. They're latch-key kids before they can walk!

That's crazy. Here you get a year, but having not had any kids or been near having kids I'm not sure what happens pay-wise. Also, there's paternity leave. And, it can be split up. The mom could take 6 months and then the dad could take 6 months. Or I believe they can overlap, but then it will only be those months total (not like you can overlap for 6 months, and then just the wife has the next 6 months off - you'd have used up your year by each taking so many months off , get it?).

I could be wrong, but I do believe that's how that works. (And it doesn't have to be split 6 months/6months. The wife could take 4 and the hubby 8, or any math that equals the 12 months).

Squidgey LOL LOL

Yeah, Stephie is right. Here it's one year of paid leave. The first 6 weeks is considered Mat leave but the remaining weeks are called parental leave. Any parent can take the parental leave and again Stephie is right you can both take it at the same time.

Also, your job is protected provided you've worked with them a year. They have to take you back at the same level of job but they don't have to give you your actual position back. Like when I get back here my position will have probably changed a bit but it will be comparable to what I'm at now.

That's how I can afford to take time off before the baby comes (you can start mat leave up to 6 weeks before your due date).

I wanna be a Canadian!

So . . . I take it Mr. IT's dream was just a dream. No little squidgy yet, right? I had my cell phone with me all weekend, and I didn't get any frantic calls.

Just checking, you know.

I'm "pushing" for Sept 18. (pun intended). Do you have an estimated baby weight yet? 10 lbs is a good indication of a future hockey player. Of course Mr. IT could forget more children after that. BEST WISHES TO YOU and BEST OF EVERYTHING TO THE LIL ALIEN.

'K?

No baby yet *sigh*

I really want him to wait until Callie is here (only 6 more days!!) but I also really want him out NOW! LOL

It's been nice to be able to stay home. I was so tired and icky feeling yesterday work would not have gone well. Still though... I'm totally BORED!

Ten pounds!! NOOOOOOO!!! The doctor said she thinks he'll be about 8 and a half pounds (if he comes on his due date). Of course it's still just an estimated guess. Even the doctors can't tell for sure. My due date is Sept. 21st... not long now.

Wait until the Nesting thing kicks in..I would try to get Mo to clean my garage but it never worked out. She went into labor, while sitting in the bleachers, at one of my championship ballgames. The woman made us stop the game so I could take her to the hospital. I was at bat so I asked her to hang on a little longer. Women went crazy. Can you believe they stopped the game and put in a pinch hitter for me...Everything was fine but I could have taken my bat and delivered the baby the next at bat. We had plenty of time...and only one inning to go..

PS: I have not heard the end of that one till this day.
PPS: She also went into labor during a Inspector General's Inspection. I was the only expectant father in the delivery room in Dress Blues with Sword. The nurses said their husbands never got dressed up for them.
